At Dr. Martin's Vein and Medical Aesthetics Clinic we have always been focused on providing the finest in both products and services that will aid our clients to maintain that image of "Youth in Middle Age".
In that vein, no pun intended, we have expanded our services to include LED Dental Whitening.
The LED Dental Whitening system uses a hydrogen-peroxide gel solution and LED light to activate the process of whitening your teeth. It works best on patients who have healthy teeth and gums, but who have some staining or a yellowish tint to teeth that used to be whiter.
It is also safe for veneers, fillings, crowns or false teeth; however those artificial enhancements will never become whiter than they were originally.
The LED Dental Whitening system used at Dr. Martin's Vein & Medical Aesthetics Clinic causes little to no sensitivity, even for people with already sensitive teeth, and during the 20 minute treatment the patient will experience no heat or discomfort.
Many patients experience between two and eight shades of whitening after only one treatment.
As a result of time and certain lifestyle habits tooth discolouration generally becomes more pronounced in middle age. Depending on the extent of discolouration, and the factors that caused it, our aesthetician may recommend a double treatment for enhanced whitening results.
Patients who smoke, or who regularly consume "staining" foods or drinks (such as coffee, tea, cola, red wine, curries, beets or berries) may require more frequent treatments. They may also want to consider our Maintenance Kits for at-home touch-ups. This will prolong the effects of the whitening procedure.
LED Dental Whitening After-Care
Patients are strongly advised to avoid consuming coffee, tea, dark or brightly coloured pop or drinks, red white, curry, beets and berries for a minimum of 24 hours after treatment.
A good rule of thumb is that if it would stain a white T-shirt, it will stain your teeth!
If teeth feel more sensitive after the treatment SensodyneTM toothpaste is an option for immediate relief, however all patients are advised to continue their regular dental hygiene as recommended by their dentist. There is no guarantee as to the longevity of the results, and therefore we recommend the use of the take-home Maintenance Kits. These kits are excellent both for enhancing the whitening procedures and/or for touch-ups prior to a special event.
Maintenance Kits
LED Mouthlight and Pen Kit
This very easy to use kit is specific for touch-ups prior to special events. The twist-bottom pen dispenses whitening gel which gets painted onto the teeth. The mouthlight then gets pressed against the teeth for 15 minutes to activate the gel and enhance the whitening effect that was created in the clinic. When used properly, the pen contains enough gel for six touch-up treatments.
Trayform Kit
For those patients who wish to continue the whitening treatment at home, this kit allows you to form the tray to your specific dental pattern (similar to a mouth-guard). This option will enhance the results of your clinical whitening treatment, you may perform a similar treatment at home for six consecutive nights. No light is required for this maintenance kit.
